Marc Oria, originally from Barcelona, Spain, now lives in the United States, where he has quickly become a leader in the US coastal rowing movement. Marc is an athlete and a coach, with success in both flat water and coastal rowing. In 2021, at the first USRowing coastal national team trials, Marc’s athletes won 3 of the 4 available senior national team categories for Beach Sprints. He coached for the US at the 2021 Beach Sprints Finals in Oeiras, Portugal, and raced in the US men’s quad in the coastal rowing World Championships to a 6th place finish the next week. In addition to coastal coaching, Marc is an assistant coach at the Oklahoma High Performance Center and is Head Coach at the Great Miami Rowing Center. He is also a member of the USRowing Coastal Committee, has been an instructor on all three of the USRowing/World Rowing Coastal Coaching Certification courses, and led the World Rowing Central and South American coastal coaching certification course in Llima, Peru.
Marc has a lifetime of involvement in high performance rowing. From 1998-2007 he rowed for the Catalunya National Team, and from 1999-2002, the Spanish National Team.
Marc has been a professional coach and educator since 1999. He coached the Catalunya National Team in 2006, with several of his athletes medalling at the World Rowing Junior Championships and World Rowing Championships, while some went on to become finalists in the 2016 Olympic Games.
In addition to rowing, Marc competes ib Adventure Races, trail running, Ironman triathlons and mountain biking. He has a Phd in Neuroscience and is a certified Reiki practitioner.
